Democrats
Since the subject of Tim Holden was brought up, I have a question...where in world have the Democrats gone? I don't mean Democrats that look, talk and act like Republicans, I mean
D E M O C R A T S.
There was a time when you could actually tell the difference between the political parties. They have different ideologies and different approachs to problems. So where are all the Ann Richards hiding?
I adored Ann Richards...a little kooky...a little out there, but when she spoke, you listened and you believed her. She was sincere and passionate and she was most definately a Democrat.
I believe Howard Dean is a Democrat. His little screaming fit made everyone take a step back and go "whoa". His enthusiam presented itself a little too enthusiastically maybe. Too bad. John Kerry....ug...(insert Homer Simpson voice here)"BOOOOO-RING".
Clinton was a decent Democrat but he was afraid to do anything. He appointed Hilary to do Health Care and then didn't really support her when she came under attack. He said he was gonna stop discrimination in the military and then settled for 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'.
We need another Ann Richards, someone who can re-energize the party and BE a Democrat. Perhaps Barack Obama. He's charasmatic, well spoken, enthusiastic and he appears to be a Democrat. Time will tell.
But until the Democrats are ready to stop being Blue Dogs and Yellow Dogs and Purple Dogs and every color of the rainbow Dogs and just be Democrat Dogs, the party will be ineffective and we end up with Picasso'esque Dogs.
