Tax Reform Bill Seriously Flawed
The property tax reform bill which finally passed the House this week has a serious flaw. Seems it limits tax increases for school districts to 3.1% but wasn't passed until after those school districts had to plan their budgets. Now many districts are scrambling to figure out what the law will be, how they will comply, and what to do about sharp increases in health care and energy costs.
Maybe if the House had passed this several months ago we could have avoided this calamity. Of course the gay marriage problem was so much higher a priority. What else did they do this year? Let's list all the important accomplishments the House made so far in 2006: a recess for the primary election.... Anything else?
