George W. Bush Abdicates

By officially calling for a constitutional amendment legalizing discrimination President Bush abdicated his titular and ceremonial position as Leader of the Free World. The man no longer believes that all men are created equal and that every citizen is equal before the law. Thus he can no longer claim the mantle.

What this really is is an attempt to divert attention from the war, the crisis in health care, gas prices, and the whole sad list of failures Bush has presided over as President. Unfortunately these public gay bashings cue other clueless Americans to do the same. There has been an upsurge in violence against gays and lesbians since the Radical Republican Right (RRR) began systematic gay bashing from the Oval Office.

I asked a local Republican official who regularly disparages hispanics to whip his reactionary base into a voting frenzy, if he realizes his words have real consequences for real people. I asked him directly if he realizes if people are actually attacked and injured because of his words. He said sure. He also said he didn't care. I suppose that's all we need to know about these right wing Republicans: they don't care. Matthew Shepard was just collateral damage.
