State Committee News
Tiogadem reports over at Keystone Politics on her weekend at Democratic State Committee. Her article doesn't contain much positive news. T.J. Rooney being re-elected Chair certainly isn't. The state party needs some serious work and Rooney is from the old guard that "doesn't get it." For example the state party website is awful. It isn't even updated. I was there recently and they still have Joe Hoeffel listed as the Congressman from CD-13. Allyson Schwartz has represented this district for two years. There's no blog and very little information available.
Worse, very little support is provided to candidates. I asked for a copy of the 2004 PA Victory '04 volunteer database when I was managing Chuck Pennacchio's Senate campaign. I also asked for a statewide media list. Though promised they never materialized. Things like that are inexcusable. All Democrats should have access to Party databases and resources like Prevail.
I also noted from Tiogadem's news that Casey held a fundraiser BBQ for state committee members. True to his nickname "Pay Per View Bob" it cost $65 apiece. Casey can't even figure out it makes sense (instead of cents) to let state committee persons get to know him so they can better sell him to the people back home. This was just stupid. It's almost as stupid as refusing to hire field organizers and build a grassroots campaign like Santorum has.
