Bigotry Issue Completely Derails Virginia Senate Candidate

As if we don't have our own bigotry issues in the Pennsylvania Senate race (and why haven't Rick's bigotry problems surfaced yet?) the race in Virginia is all about macaca these days. Sen. George Allen's campaign has been completely derailed by comments he made early last week. It's dominating the news, dominating the blogosphere (yea, like I'd waste any time writing about a bigoted Senator), and is the chief subject dogging Allen's re-election campaign.

Sometimes I wonder where we get Senators like Rick Santorum, Trent Lott, George Allen and Sam Brownback. Then I remember: yes, we get them from the Republican Party. Why isn't Bob Casey out there reminding women of Santorum's book which essentially says they should be kept at home barefoot and pregnant? Where are all the reminders about man on dog sex? This man has said so many outrageous and outlandish things but you aren't hearing any of them in this campaign.

We have a Senator of whom Pennsylvanians are embarrassed and ashamed. He's been a disgrace to our sensibilities, just as George Allen has in Virginia recently. The press is all over Allen but Santorum is getting a free pass because Casey is allowing it. It's time to capitalize on the macaca scandal and remind Pennsylvanians there isn't much difference between Allen and Santorum. After all a bigot is a bigot is a bigot.
