FBI Gestapo Tactics?
I apologize for the vagueness of some of the details in this story. It is designed to protect those involved.
I just received a phone call from a friend. The friend has a friend who got a visit today from the FBI because of websites she visited. This person is a U.S. citizen who lived in the Middle East at one time and keeps in touch and informed by visiting Middle Eastern websites. Because of this she got a very intimidating and threatening visit from Federal agents.
She was told to be more careful who she associates with.
What's next, being told not to associate with Jews, gays, or Canadians? Or bloggers?
This person is not engaged in any conspiracy, crime, or terrorist related activity. For the FBI to come by and threaten her is a clear violation of her rights. It's gestapo tactics.
I'd like to know how they knew what internet sites she was visiting? This is an American citizen mind you, not engaged in any unlawful activity. Even had she not had a legitimate reason for visiting Mid-East websites how the heck do they know? They are obviously monitoring her. This smells of the NSA spying operation. Where is the probable cause and where are the warrants?
The nitwits who say "I don't worry about it because I'm not doing anything wrong" should take notice. This person wasn't either but still received a visit and the information that the government is tracking her internet usage.
It's a very slippery slope. There are reasons the Founding Fathers wrote those rights the way they did: to protect us from our own government.
