Froomkin: Cheney Crossed Line Separating Discourse From Hysteria
Columnist Dan Froomkin writes today that Vice President Dick Cheney, who authorized the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity, crossed the line from legitimate political discourse to hysteria. He equates anyone opposing the war with aiding and abetting the enemy.
Folks this man is becoming a major embarrassment. He embarrasses us because he has no respect for democratic institutions. He embarrasses us because he can't shoot straight, whether it's with facts or birdshot. A year ago he said the Iraqi insurgency was in its "last throes." On the eve of the invasion he said Saddam had reconstituted his nuclear weapons program even though he knew that was a lie. He embarrasses us because he's an afront to everything we believe in as Americans.
Fortunately the man has zero credibility. With an approval rating barely into double digits, let's all simply ignore him. What's the last true thing the man said? Can anyone remember?
