Mike Folmer Took $12,000 From Unregistered PAC
"Citizen" Mike Folmer is anything but. He is backed by serious money from some serious right wing "players." He also accepted $12,000 on April 26 from an entity he reported as the PAT PAC. No such political action committee is registered with the Secretary of State's office as required by law. Listed as being from Allentown my guess is this is affiliated with Pat Toomey. Of course there's no way of knowing since they have refused to comply with Pennsylvania election law.
Late April was the heat of the battle in Folmer's primary election contest with Chip Brightbill in the 48th state senate district. Folmer succeeded on the strength of all this extremist money he accepted. Richard Mellon Scaife, who poured several hundred million dollars into smearing the Clintons with The Arkansas Project, The American Spectator, and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, gave $10,000, also on April 26th.
Sandra L. Usher, wife of the Chairman of U.S. Steel gave $5,000. Glen Meakem, who frequently guests on Jerry Bowyer's radical radio program Worldview, contributed $5,000. Bob Guzzardi, one of the state's leading donors to extremist candidates gave $28,400, $12,900 of which was an in-kind contribution for polling. As I recall the poll I saw was done by Pat Toomey's Club for Growth. I assume Guzzardi paid for that poll according to these disclosure reports.
Speaking of Toomey, his PAC gave $1,000. It's the 12 grand this unregistered PAT PAC gave that's most interesting however. We know how radical Mike Folmer is and discovering Scaife money behind him is expected. The purpose of public reporting of contributions is so voters ostensibly know whom is funding whom. If you know who your representatives are indebted to you'll know how they'll vote. When you see the extremists giving money you know who the extremist candidates are. Mike Folmer is a right wing extremist.
Update: I contacted the Secretary of State's office to verify the registration of PAT PAC and they are investigating.
UpdateII: The Secretary of State's office called this morning (Wednesday) to say the name of the PAC is actually the Pro Growth Action Team which registered as of April 17th, just a week prior to their generous contribution. This raises several important questions? Who was attempting to deceive voters by concealing the real source of the $12,000? No competent campaign accepts that much cash without knowing from where it came. Did the Pro-Growth Action Team intentionally conceal its participation? Why?
The Folmer campaign has been notified they must file an amended report to accurately reflect the source of this money.
This PAC has received its money from Richard Mellon Scaife and Pat Toomey, among others, according to public reports.
