Sen. Stevens Blocking Earmarks Disclosure

Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska has been identified as the source of a block put on legislation that would make public $2.5 trillion in federal pork barrel spending. Otherwise known as "earmarks" because pork barrel has such a negative connotation, the Senator has been one of Congress' biggest beneficiaries of pork barrel spending. Remember when he refused to surrender his $240 million bridge to nowhere so the funds could be used to rebuild the Gulf Coast after Katrina? Yup same guy. Remember the hearing on internet neutrality last spring when he said the world wide web was nothing more than "a series of tubes?" Same guy.

Voters in Alaska voted their incumbent Republican Governor out of office a couple weeks ago and need to do the same for Stevens. He's an embarrassment.
