Santorum is Courting Women Voters?
Which ones, those still living in caves? Santorum, who used his book "It Takes a Family" to bash women, is now trying to woo women voters according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette:
The Junior Senator seems to think women should be kept barefoot and pregnant, that their only contribution to society is serving their men. This cave man mentality is a stark reminder of how he has lost touch with people. Just try raising a family these days on one income. In fact the GOP policies Santorum so boldly embraces and supports are forcing more and more women into the workforce. Real wages are falling, poverty is increasing, inflation from energy prices are further eroding buying power and the middle class is being eliminated.
If anything Rick Santorum has been anti-family in his twelve years as a U.S. Senator. He has voted against raising the minimum wage twelve times. Too many women and parents must work two full time jobs at $5.15/hour to keep a roof overhead and food on the table. Yet Tricky Ricky thinks they should stay home. And make what for dinner? Heaven help the woman go for a bag of groceries at the nearest food bank.
Republicans are now trying to eliminate that benefit for the poor. Berks County Commissioner Mark Scott railed this week about families abusing the food bank system. Asked why someone would wait in line for two hours for one bag of food if they didn't need it the elitist didn't have an answer. Wake up idiots, poverty under George W. Bush has been skyrocketing. Stop wondering why so many more people are living in poverty and actually DO SOMETHING about it. Vote Democratic this time.
In one widely noted and controversial passage, Mr. Santorum said that "radical feminism" has reinforced a view among some women that it is more "socially affirming to work outside the home than to give up their careers to take care of their children."About two dozen women joined the Senate colleagues, along with former U.S. Rep. Susan Molinari, state Sen. Mary Jo White and county Councilwoman Jan Rea, in a news conference at the Omni William Penn Hotel. Ms. Dole and Mr. Santorum were scheduled to repeat the performance later in suburban Philadelphia.
Ms. Molinari, a former lawmaker from New York, defended his book "It Takes a Family" from critics who have characterized it as demeaning to working women.
