Santorum's War on Sin
Rick Santorum took to the floor of the Senate today to support the proposed Federal Marriage Amendment. Rick spent a good deal of time agreeing with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's dissent in Lawrence v. Kansas. The Senator from Virginia believes sodomy should again be outlawed. He believes you should not be able to use contraception, that all non-procreative sex should be criminalized, and that the reason for marriage is for procreation.
Let's examine a few of these issues. The infamous Associated Press interview answers which began the references to our Junior Senator as "Man on Dog" was predicated on these beliefs. He has spoken about these frequently.
By outlawing sodomy Santorum would also outlaw all oral and anal sex, as that is the definition of sodomy. He has stated he believes any sexual activity which doesn't result in pregnancy is against the Bible and should be criminalized. So don't have sex if you're beyond your child bearing years. You won't be able to marry if you're sterile or over 40 (or thereabouts). Masturbation is an abomination.
Since this is the definition of "traditional marriage" to these wingnuts and since they are seeking to impose these standards on the rest of us the folks over at AmericaBlog have been calling Congressmen and women and Senators co-sponsoring the Bill to probe into their indiscretions. It's some really fun reading, especially since, according to their own Biblical scriptures divorce is against God's law and equal to adultery.
I think the real issue here is a simple one. Let he who is without sin cast the first vote.
