Bloomberg News Says NSA Began Spying Before 9/11

Bloomberg News broke a story Friday saying the National Security Agency began contrecting with AT&T to spy on domestic telephone calls BEFORE September 11, 2001. This is hugely significant because President Bush and his echo chamber have been insisting the illegal, warrantless spying on Americans was necessary because of those terrorist attacks.

"The Bush Administration asserted this became necessary after 9/11,'' plaintiff's lawyer Carl Mayer said in a telephone interview. ``This undermines that assertion.''

This is a gigantic lie to be caught saying. Th esupposed legal justification was that it was justified action under the AUMF passed by Congress after the attacks. Why then was NSA setting it up seven months before those attacks? That would mean this was one of the first projects undertaken by the Bush Administration. This had to be one of their top priorities as soon as they assumed office.

Why would they lie about this? It raises some very important questions, questions that only a full Congressional investigation and/or special prosecutor can answer.
