Sherwood Again Facing Ethics Issues

A reader brought this to our attention yesterday and I decided to front page the story. Rep. Don Sherwood (R-Choke City), already facing the challenge of convincing voters in Tenth Congressional District to forget how he tried to choke his mistress last year is now facing another challenge to his ethics. Or lack thereof, you might say. But it's ok, Don, if you're a Republican. After all, we're at the point we don't expect ethics from Republicans.

The Scranton Times Tribune reported that a special earmark (PORK) program pushed through by the Congressman put money directly into his own pocket. Seems Mr. Sherwood's auto dealership (do you really need to know anything more about the man than he owns a car dealership?) sold a truck to the group Sherwood's pork legislation funded. Cha-ching.

I would it pretty basic that if I owned a business everyone there would know what groups and organizations not to deal with for ethical reasons. Nothing like a conflict of interest charge to deal with in the midst of an election campaign, after all. Not only does this reflect badly on Sherwood's ethics, but on his management ability. If he neglected to inform his business people not to deal with groups he funded that also reflects poorly on the Congressman.

Chris Carney is the Democratic candidate in this District.
