Appeasing Terrorists

Vice President Cheney accused some Americans this week of "appeasing terrorists." This was one more outrageous, polarizing, playing on people's fears statement from this most irresponsible public official. Dick Cheney's comments since he became VP have been quite extreme. He has to be the most polarizing political figure this country has ever seen. Almost nothing passing his lips is true or constructive or positive. He constantly plays on people's worst fears to keep them in line.

On the morning before the war in Iraq began he said this on Meet the Press: "Saddam Hussein has reconstituted his nuclear weapons." No qualifications, no doubt, nothing but the certainty of his accusation: Iraq has nuclear weapons. This was the justification for supporting the war for many Americans. It was a complete lie and Cheney knew it at the time.

On the eve of the 2004 election he said if John Kerry won the terrorists would win. He said voting for Kerry was voting for the terrorists. Last June he said the Iraq insurgency was "in its last throes."

The man isn't a fool, he's quite intelligent. He makes these statements for a very clear purpose: to remain in power.

Now he's saying those who oppose the war want to appease the terrorists. This is more blasphemy. Why do we continue to tolerate this from the man a heartbeat away from the Oval Office. We must impeach him for the Valerie Plame affair. Who really, after all, compromised national security? Dick Cheney did when he authorized his Chief of Staff Scooter Libby to reveal her identity.

Outing Plame while she was working to defend this country from real weapons of mass destruction (as opposed to the ephemeral ones in Cheney's twisted mind) did actually appease terrorists. Entire intelligence networks working under her were exposed and eliminated. Networks that were seeking to deny real wmd's from people like Osama bin Forgotten.

Speaking of Osama where is he? Who appeased him by allowing him to escape Tora Bora? Who made the decision to use so few American troops there we weren't able to capture or kill the man responsible for September 11th, the Cole attack and the African embassy bombings? Who made the decision to pull our military special forces and intelligence assets from chasing Osama so we could invade Iraq?

Who made the disastrous decision to invade Iraq and create entire new generations of Osamas? Who made the incompetent plans and decisions which have led to the training of thousands of new terrorists.
