News and Notes
Verizon finally got our DSL service back up late yesterday. 72 hours down and almost no word from them during the period. I spoke with one of their technicians (the local box is right by our house) and he was shocked that no one had contacted us or sent a tech. So were we. One of the problems with having utilities is the lack of competition. Internet service is too important these days to tolerate such horrendous service levels.
I was planning on going away for four days over the weekend but Ernesto's unplanned arrival swamped our plans. It's no fun staying in a cabin or going boating in these predicted storm conditions so we've opted to remain where it's warm and dry. The good news is I'll be able to blog the Senate debate Sunday.
On another note the Philadelphia Inquirer is publishing an in depth piece on the U. S. Senate arce, probably Sunday. Carrie Budoff did a phone interview with me last week as part of her research for it.
I'm gradually catching up on all the statewide news I missed this week. It's amazing how dependent I've become on the internet for my news. Not having it all week was an eye opener. We're so accustomed now to instantly being able to research any subject by using this wonderful resource. I have friends who still don't have computers and I wonder how they function. I ran into one yesterday, a public official no less. She had something to send me and needed my snail mail address. I had a bit of fun with her, again chiding her to at least join the 20th century, lol.
Labor Day is customarily the kickoff for the fall campaigns. Things should begin heating up. If you have any news or tips please feel free to email me at paprogressive(at)gmail(dot)com. We want to keep our readers as up to date as possible with all the happenings.
