Cut and Run

Karl Rove, who everyone knows informed Time reporter Matt Cooper that Joe Wilson's wife was an undercover CIA agent, accused Democrats John Kerry and John Murtha yesterday of supporting a cut and run strategy in Iraq. We already know where Rove's national security priorities lie. Regardless, he waded into these murky waters again, with attacks to which Sen. John Kerry responded. Raw Story has the details. Rove said this about John Kerry and John Murtha:

"They may be with you for the first few bullets," Rove said, "but they won't be there for the last tough battles."

This is typical Karl Rove: all politics and no policy. All smear and no facts. Kerry and Murtha are decorated war veterans. Karl Rove was president of the College Republicans. Dick Cheney had five deferments. I know who I'd want on my side when the bullets are flying. Or, as the Kerry staff says:

"The closest Karl Rove ever came to combat," said Kerry spokesman David Wade, "was these last months spent worrying his cellmates might rough him up in prison. This porcine political operative can't cut and run from the truth any longer."

Wade continued: "When it came to Iraq, this Administration chose to cut and run from sound intelligence and good diplomacy, cut and run from the best military advice, cut and run from their responsibility to give our troops body armor, and in November Americans will cut and run from this Republican Congress."
