Marshmallow Battle Looms In Boston
I love this story. It seems that a local dietary delicacy in Massachusettes has found it's way into the local political fray. Fluffernutter sandwiches, made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff (cream) have become the issue of the day as two state legislators debate the issue. The controversy seems to be about how often the sandwiches should be served in school cafeterias. One of the protagonists put it this way to the Boston Globe:
And here we are in Pennsylvania wondering why our legislature is concerned about "marriage protection" instead of wages, property taxes, lobbying reform, and the budget. If you ask me all these side issues are fluff.
In an interview, Kathi-Anne Reinstein said she felt the need to defend the honor of Fluff, protect the rights of parents, and protect a local company.
"I'm going to fight to the death for Fluff," Reinstein said. "It's out of control. It's ridiculous that with all the things going on in the state and in the world, we're having this conversation. It's insane."
