No Poll Bounce for Bush

Things have gotten so bad for George W. Bush that even killing Abu Musab al-Zarqwari didn't give him a small bounce in his poll numbers, according to a new CBS poll.

The CBS site has this to say about their findings:

Americans agree. Half think the level of violence in Iraq will be unchanged by Zarqawi's death, while 30 percent say it will actually lead to more attacks against U.S. forces. Just 16 percent think the number of attacks will decrease as a result of his death.

Wow. I find this rather surprising. My thinking is that eliminating this monster is significant, along with the resulting damage to his network. Americans have apparently become so jaded with this war and all the lies from this White House they can't even give the Old Boy a little nudge when he actually accomplishes something.

A 33% job approval rating for a President is almost getting as low as you can go. Granted Cheney's numbers are in the teens but he actually shot someone. What this poll shows is that there's nothing Bush can do now to rejuvenate his lost Presidency and his legacy. Maybe going after Osama would have been the better strategy.
