Still Piling on Perzel

Speaker of the House John Perzel announced yesterday he is imposing a gag order on himself about the pay raise issue. First he'll have to remove the foot he keeps inserting in his mouth. The Inquirer reports Perzel called a press conference to make this momentous announcement. In the course of his remarks he was unable to apologize to the voters, though he did feel sorry for the distress his comments have had on his fellow House members.

Let's get this straight. Perzel still doesn't feel sorry about enacting the illegal pay raise. A raise that was over and above the annual cost of living increases they had already received. Over and above the 50% increase in pension benefits they gave themselves a few years ago. What he regrets is all the Republican House members who lost on May 16th due to his actions. He regrets all the stupid comments he's made that keep this issue alive.

I do have to admit I've milked this issue. It's tattooed on my consciousness. The voters feel the same way. Try working a polling place John and listen to the disgruntled citizens showing up solely for the purpose of voting out people like yourself. Maybe then you'll get the message. I especially liked this quote:

"It is not proper, given the variety of viewpoints of our members, that they are publicly penalized for my opinions," he added. "... You have every right in the world to beat up on me for the things I've said, but not the other members."

John Perzel was elected by those members to be their Speaker. Their leader in the state House. As such what he says and does reflects on their judgement. When he is so out of touch and makes such moronic statements as he has it does reflect poorly on them. This seems to be an aspect of this issue that escapes the Speaker's reality.

On a final note John Perzel has yet to re-imburse taxpayers for his ill gotten gains. He owes the taxpayers this much before he has the chance to milk them again. If he doesn't the good people of Philadelphia should tattoo him with a new moniker come November: Loser.
