Another Abramoff Republican Crook Bites the Dust

The Jack Abramoff scandal is the gift that keeps on giving. This morning it claimed another GOP Congressman as Ohio's Bob Ney announced he will not seek re-election. That must mean an indictment is imminent. The trend has been for these crooks to hang on until the last moment then resign.

Ney has been implicated in this and the Ohio Coingate scandal for some time. As The Washington Post reports:

Ney has been identified as the accused but so far unindicted "Congressman A" in Abramoff's plea agreement. He has denied wrongdoing.

Ney has been under investigation by federal authorities in Florida and the District for actions that helped Abramoff and two partners buy a Fort Lauderdale-based casino cruise line. The deal that Ney promoted in the Congressional Record hinged on the Abramoff group's creation of a counterfeit $23 million wire transfer.

Rumors have also been circulating about several other corrupt Republican legislators involved with Jack Abramoff and the infamous K Street Project.
