Bush Is Called On Lies

President Bush has launched an effort to discredit opponents of his failed and distrastrous Iraq policy. We focused on some of his comments yesterday. He continues lying to Americans about the reasons for this war, what's going on in Iraq and links to the terror attacks of September 11th. One of our readers, Rick Tennesen is an example. He left another comment yesterday criticizing me for condemning Bush for again linking Iraq and 9/11. He seems to have swallowed Bush's brainwashing and refuses to accept the facts. Iraq and Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. No one has come up with any evidence otherwise. Not even the 9/11 Commission which looked into those attacks extensively.

At one point over 70% of Americans believed these lies because Bush and his cronies did everything they could to link the two. They did this to further their plans to invade Iraq. Bush is using the fifth anniversary of those attacks to further this agenda. He pretty much has to. Is he going to admit to the American people that he lied them into this disaster? Actually this is why we need a special, independent prosecutor.

The Washington Post, covering Bush's remarks yesterday said this:

Pressed to support these allegations, the White House yesterday could cite no major Democrat who has proposed cutting off funds or suggested that withdrawing from Iraq would persuade terrorists to leave Americans alone. But White House and Republican officials said those are logical interpretations of the most common Democratic position favoring a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

Bush and Cheney make these wild, unsupported accusation swith no facts or justification. They are designed to keep them out of the dock at The Hague for war crimes. They are designed to stall off impeachment. After all there can be crime more serious than lying to the people for why we went to war. Lying about why their children were sent to Baghdad to be blown up by ied's.

I'm fed up with their lies. I'm fed up with their excuses, I'm fed up with their attempts to blame others. It's time the buck stopped at the Oval Office once again.
