Rendell Endorses Term Limits

Governor Ed Rendell suggested term limits for state legislators as a partial solution to property tax reform. Visiting the Reading Fair yesterday the Guv, in between bites of fair food, answered questions from residents about the failure to get really meaningful reform laws passed by the Republican led legislature.

Rendell said he wanted to raise the 6 percent state sales tax to 7 percent and use the additional revenue to pay for property tax cuts.

But lawmakers were too scared about losing their seats to vote for the plan, Rendell claimed.

“These guys are all afraid,” Rendell said of lawmakers. “We have to have term limits so they are not worried about

their careers.”

While a good scoop by the Reading Eagle it would be nice if their reporters were able to travel outside the county to cover important political events affecting Berks County. The newspaper must put gps systems in their cars which disable them at the county line.
