Slots Companies Paying off Legislators? You Bet

I'm simply shocked and appalled to discover there was a loophole used by proposed slots applicants to contribute to political campaigns. Shocked you hear, absolutely shocked. One of my favorite scenes from Casablanca, mind you, the best movie ever made IMHO.

These gambling people have given $750,000 so far to further their interests under the new slots legislation. I'm not sure it's possible to write a law foolproof enough to stop this flow of money. I think they'll find any way possible, or even extra legal, to influence these decisions. There's too much money at stake. Heck we even saw one person attempt to slither around the law by putting his kids in as investors.

Do we really believe these contributions won't have any effect? Do you still believe in Santa Claus? This is one more reason we need Clean Elections law in Pennsylvania. Until we take the money out of politics completely and allow public financing we'll always have this corruption. Money corrupts the system, it's that simple. Until we remove it we'll never see good government at its best.
