Some Republicans Shunning Bush

While Pennsylvania's Gubernatorial and Senate candidates are embracing George W. Bush and his failed policies Maryland's are shunning him. Traditionally a Blue State, Maryland elected Republican Bob Ehrlich four years ago when Democrats fielded a particularly weak candidate (Kathleen Kennedy Townsend). Facing re-election following a tough first term and many mis-steps, Ehrlich avoided sharing a stage with the President yesterday. So did the GOP Senate candidate Michael Steele.

From The Washington Post:

But on a day considered the launching point of the fall election season, Maryland's top two Republicans -- Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich and Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele -- did not appear with the president in the St. Mary's County town.

Compare this with Lynn Swann's appearances with Bush last month in Lancaster and York and Rick Santorum's statements about the President on Sunday's Meet the Press debate:

I agree with the president, as you see, a vast majority of the time.
I think he’s been a terrific president, absolutely.

If you love George W. Bush you love Rick Santorum. They agree on most everything. Santorum has voted for and supported George W. Bush 98% of the time. A vote for Santorum on November 7th is a vote for more of Bush's failed policies and a vote for more federal incompetence. It's a vote for more death and destruction, more warmongering (as was VERY evident from the Senator Sunday), more deficits, more poverty, more bigotry, more sexism, less health care, lower wages, and less regulation of industry and the environment.

That's what a vote for Rick Santorum means on November 7th.

While Maryland's Republicans are distancing themselves from all that ours are embracing it. Let's remind our voters of this.
