Brightbill and Wenger Land Softly

Retiring state senators Chip Brightbill and Noah Wenger won't be wondering where their next meals are coming from once they leave public service later this year. As the Lancaster New Era reports, due to the wonderful pension improvements they voted themselves several years ago Chip and Noah are well set financially:

Brightbill, the Senate’s No. 2 in charge who will have served 24 years by the end of 2006, will be eligible to collect an estimated $72,430 a year, or $6,036 a month, data show.

His current salary is $104,590.

Wenger, a Republican who will have served 30 years in the Legislature, is eligible to receive an estimated $81,085 a year, or $6,757 a month, for the rest of his life.

I hope the food banks and homeless shelters in Lebanon and Lancaster are prepared for when these two men leave office. I'm sure they'll be dependent on the generosity of others.
