The Lunatic Fringe

Certain fringe elements badly abuse email and posting priveleges on the internet. Some of the extreme, inflammatory rhetoric, on both fringes, is to be condemned. That said I'd like to post something a right wing lunatic sent to a Yahoo Group promoting one progressive candidate for President. To save this individual from too much grief from those wishing to respond I'll refrain from mentioning his email address. This does seem to be someone regularly posts on a blog called Free Republic (the "freepers"). Here is the email this person sent:

I read you and your fellow terror loving appeasing america hating
shitfaces are going to rally for Hezbollah on Friday. So whos your biggest hero?
Since you have announced you want all Jews dead we know you love Hitler.
You love Saddam and genocide since you're anti Iraq war. You love Osama
since you love terrorism. Remember worthless piece of shit. There's an old
saying. I know you hate the jews as evidenced by your anti Israel
PRO HEZBOLLAH protest. But eventually no matter how many times you suck
Bin laden's dick they will kill you too.

Another thing... Since you hate all american troops EVIDENCED
BY YOUR SUPPORT OF HEZBOLLAH THEREOFRE SUPPORT OF AL QUEDA what dance do you do
when you hear of a Soldier's death?

And when you are attending your NAMBLA Meetings do you combine them with
your AL Queda meetings?

Pardon the misspellings etc. Not everyone on the lunatic fringe is educated. This guy automatically equates a balanced examination of both sides' policies, grievances, and issues with supporting genocide and the holocaust. He condemns all of us against the war in Iraq saying it proves we support genocide in that country. Truth is many, many more Iraqis are being killed now than were under Saddam. Iraqis now long for the good old days when Saddam was in power.

The most obscene point made is that opponents of the war dance on soldier's graves. Who has been in the forefront insuring they get body armor, armored Humvees and proper care? No one supports the troops more than we do. We support them also by questioning why they're dying and asking what they're dying for? Now, THAT is a noble cause.

As for the final part assuming we're all Al Qeda (sic) and members of NAMBLA, I wouldn't dignify such defamation with a response.

How do emails such as this one elevate the level of political discourse? What would motivate someone to actually send this hate filled missive to someone?
