Santorum Accepted Abramoff Related Money
According to his Federal Election Commission filings Senator Rick Santorum (R-VA) accepted $4200, or the maximum allowable under law, from a Mr. Cesar Alvarez of Miami, Florida. The two contributions of $2100 9one for the primary and one for the general election) were given on March 31, 2006.
Mr. Alvarez listed his employer as Greenberg Traurig, convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff's company. Alvarez is listed as the company's Chief Executive Officer. The Senator's campaign has not returned the funds according to current FEC records online.
March 31st was a very, very good day for the Senator's campaign coffers. More about that tomorrow.
