Santorum Has Monkey on His Back

A group is trailing Tricky Ricky Santorum, the Canine Casanova, around the campaign trail with a large inflatable monkey. Santorum stated in early 2005 that he would base his entire re-election effort on privatizing Social Security. Oops. That one backfired badly on him when a tour of 14 stops around the state showed intense opposition to the scheme. We have no intention of letting him off that easy however, and neither does Americans United to Protect Social Security.

Santorum does have a monkey on his back over Social Security. He was in the forefront of the scheme to eliminate the program last year. You can call it personal accounts (and don't we already have them as IRA's?), privatization, or what it really is, elimination, but Santorum is on the wrong side of this issue. The monkey reminds voters about this failure. The truth is Santorum cares more about creating windfall profits for Wall Street than in protecting a vital social safety net for our seniors.

The real Republican agends on Social Security was revealed when Chuck Pennacchio's campaign caught a bunch of Drexel College Republicans chanting "hey hey, ho ho, Social Security's got to go!"

Maybe Santorum can change the subject by referring to the monkey as a macaca.
