Mackey to Join Capitol Pay Raise Protest Tuesday
From the Bill Mackey campaign:
Bill Mackey, candidate for State Representative in the 124th Legislative District, will be in Harrisburg tomorrow (September 19th at 11am) at the Capitol participating in a demonstration to urge several lawmakers to pay back the illegal and unconstitutional unvouchered expenses garnered as a result of last year’s midnight pay grab. Mackey will be joining fellow reform activists Eric Epstein and Gene Stilp along with members of the public and the PAY RAISE PIG.
Mackey’s opponent, Rep. Dave Argall was a key player in last year’s pay grab. In addition to voting for the grab, Argall was one of the six lawmakers who crafted the legislation in a midnight session. Argall also has refused to pay back a reported $7,000 in unvouchered expenses. Even though the raise has been repealed, Argall will see his pension boosted as a result of keeping the unvouchered expenses.
Mackey says part of his plan to “Restore Integrity” to state government includes supporting a bill to require payment of the illegal money through legislative means.
