Governor Ann Richards

Today we mourn the passing of an American original, Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas.

Best known for her classic line about George W. Bush "He can't help it he was born with a silver foot in his mouth," she was defeated for reelection by the guttersnipe of politics, GWB himself. Bush went around Texas telling everyone Ms. Richards was a lesbian and counted on their infamous bigotry to carry him to victory. It worked. I'd rather have a lesbian than a fool as my governor but that's why I'm not a Texan.
