Senate Says Bush Lied About Saddam al Qaeda Connections

Maybe this will begin to convine wingnuts like Doctor Rick:

Saddam Hussein provided no material support for al Qaeda and had no relationship with al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu al Zarqwari, despite claims by administration officials including President George Bush, said the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Now the Senate joins the September 11th Commission and Bush himself in saying there were links between Saddam, Iraq and 9/11. The problem is Bush keeps contradicting himself whenever he feels the need to lie to Americans for his own political safety.

As Sen. John Rockefeller put it:

"Today's reports show that the administration's repeated allegations of a past, present and future relationship between al Qaeda and Iraq were wrong and intended to exploit the deep sense of insecurity among Americans in the immediate aftermath of the September 11th attacks,"

Two weeks ago President Bush lied again when he told reporters Saddam and Zarqwari had relations.

"The CIA's October 2005 assessment that Saddam's regime did not have a relationship, harbor or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi and his associates," Sen. Carl Levin said.

Bush used lies like these to justify the invasion of Iraq. Our troops have died for a lie.
